Dr. C.J. Ogugbue is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, University of Port Harcourt. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Environmental Microbiology in 2005 and had his post-doctoral fellowship training at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece and at the Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. He is currently the Associate Dean, School of Science Laboratory Technology (SSLT) and the Head, Department of Microbiology, University of Port Harcourt. Dr. Ogugbue is a Consultant Microbiologist to a couple of Companies and his research interest include: biodegradation and ecotoxicity of textile dyes and other xenobiotic compounds; effect of microbial inoculants (biofertilizers) on growth and yield of tropical plants; antibiotic resistance profiles of environmental isolates; aquatic microbiology; microbial fuel cells (bioelectrochemical cells); wastewater treatment. He has conducted over 20 environmental impact assessment and environmental evaluation studies across Nigeria. He is a member of various professional bodies including the Nigerian Society for Microbiology, American Society for Microbiology and the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology. Dr. Ogugbue has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
