About Us

The Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM) is a professional, scientific and non-governmental organization founded in 1972 and registered in Nigeria under the Land perpetual Act cap 98. The society engenders the efficient practice and application of the knowledge of Microbiology in the area of health, agriculture, petroleum, pharmaceutical, chemicals/food processing industries, among others. Its operation is extended into water treatment and environmental protection processes.

Our Goals

To advance the study and application of Microbiology in Nigeria. To facilitate and encourage contact among persons, groups or organizations interested in Microbiology professional designations. To provide an effective means for Nigerian scientists to contribute to international scientific and technological knowledge in the area of Microbiology. To promote scientific cooperation among Microbiologists in Nigeria and other countries. As a society, to ensure an opportunity for job creation through many of its professional designations and organizations
